Symbols of States and Union Territories of India

To reflect the rich diversity of India, each state and Union Territory of India has its own exclusive set of symbols. These are the official symbols which represent the uniqueness of each state in terms of culture and natural wealth. The state symbols include symbols like State animal, State bird, State flower, State tree and many more. Some states also have State fruit, State fish, State butterfly etc. Some of the States share same emblems.

The animals, birds, flowers, trees or fruits which are selected to be the state mascots are special natives of that particular state. States and Union Territories adopt their emblems, to showcase their individuality. An approval from the central government is required for adopting emblems.
