    The monopoly of Indian trade of the East India Company was abolished by the Charter Act, 1813. The other reforms introduced this Act are as follows:

    1. The company was deprived of the monopoly of trade except trade with China and trade in tea.
    2. This act made it compulsory for the company to spend one lakh rupees in India on education.
