The Indian states reorganised on the linguistic basis in the year 1956 though, states reorganisation Act of 1956. It was a major reform of the boundaries of lndias states and territories, organising them along linguistic lines. It was passed by the Parliament to give effect to the recommendations of the Fazal Ali Commission. Andhra Pradesh was the first state formed on the basis of language.
