The Indian Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on the 26th November, 1949 but it came into force after 2 months on 26th January, 1950. The day 26th January was chosen because it was the very day when the Poorna Swaraj day was celebrated, following the resolution was made in Lahore session (December 1929)
