Practice Test Discussion

Q)

In a three digit number, the digit in the unit's place is twice the digit in the ten's place and 1.5 times the digit in the hundred's place. If the sum of all the three digits of the number is 13, what is the number?

[SBI (PO) Preliminary, 2008]

  • Explanation

Let the three digit number be 100x+10y+z

According to the question z=2y and z=1.5×x

    x+y+z=13

    z1.5+z2+z=13 2z+1.5z+3z=396.5z = 39z=396.5

    Now z=6, y=3, x=4

So the original three digit number is

    (100x4)+(10x3)+(6x1)

    400+30+6=436

    Hence option B is correct.
