India ranked 108th in WEF’s Gender Gap Index

  • India has come at 108th position in the recently released Gender Gap Index 2018 by World Economic Forum.

  • India was ranked at the same position in 2017 rankings as well. The Global Gender Gap Report is published annually by the World Economic Forum since 2006.

Delhi HC Bans Online Sale of Medicines across India

  • The Delhi High Court ordered a ban on the sale of online medicines by e-pharmacists across the country.

  • The court directed both Central and state government to ensure immediate implementation of the order.

Gender Wage Gap Highest in India, Women are Paid 34% Less than Men: ILO

  • Women are paid the most unequally in India, compared to men, when it comes to hourly wages for labour.
  • On average, women are paid 34 per cent less than men, a recent report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) has found.
  • This gap in wages, known as the gender wage gap, is the highest among 73 countries studied in the report.
