To reflect the rich diversity of India, each Union Territory of India has its own exclusive set of symbols. These are the official symbols which represent the uniqueness of each Union territory in terms of culture and natural wealth. These symbols include symbols like State animal, State bird, State flower, State tree and many more.

The animals, birds, flowers, trees or fruits which are selected to be the state mascots are special natives of that particular region. States and Union Territories adopt their emblems, to showcase their individuality. An approval from the central government is required for adopting emblems.
