  • Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal has inaugurated the Iconic Signature Bridge over river Yamuna in Delhi.

  • The Signature Bridge (675 meters Long) is a Cantileve Spar Cables Stayed bridge, Spans Yamuna River at Wazirabad Section, Connecting Wazirabad to East Delhi.

  • The Pyion of the Signature Bridge is the tallest Structure in Delhi and is double the height of Qutb Minar, with 154 Meter High Viewing box.

  • Singapore has maintained its Rank as Number One Asian City in the Sustainability Index by Engineering Firm Arcadis.

  • Singapore Secured 4th place in global rankings.

  • Union Minister for Tourism, K.J. Alphons, inaugurated the Tourist Facilitation and Information Counter at Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi.

  • The main objective is to Give 24×7 Information to both Domestic and international visitors arriving into IGI Airport, New Delhi.

  • The is first of its kind facilitation centre is located at the T3 terminal arrival gates of the IGI Airport.

  • The counter will be connected to the 24×7 Helpline – ‘1363’ of the Tourism Ministry where the non-English speaking tourists can speak directly to agents and get guidance.

IFFI (International Film Festival of India) to Commence in Goa from Nov 20th 

  • The 49th International Film Festival of India, IFFI 2018 will be held in Goa from 20th to 28th of this month.
  • The festival will showcase 212 films from over 68 countries which reflects the diversity of taste.
  • International Competition section has 15 films out of which three are Indian.
  • Information and Broadcasting Ministry said, the Festival will open with World Premiere of The Aspern Papers with international star cast.

Bhubaneswar to have over 500 WiFi hot spots with 1800 access points

  • Bhubaneswar, the number one Smart City, has jumped the bandwagon of modern cities with Wi-Fi connectivity.

  • Through a project titled 'Bhubaneswar Me WiFi', the special purpose vehicleBhubaneswar Smart City Ltd (BSCL) aims to make the city accessible at key places.

  • Chief minister Naveen Patnaik launched the project which will take off initially with 100 hotspots powered by 275 access points.

  • Eventually, the city will have 518 hotspots with 1800 access points.

  • While one Wi-Fi hotspot would be able to handle as many as 150 users at a given point of time, the internet speed will be available at two megabytes per second (MBPS).

  • Access to 250 MB of data will be free for any user on a given day.

Lucknow stadium renamed after AtalBihari Vajpayee ahead of India-West Indies T20I match

  • The Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow was renamed as the "Bharat RatanAtalBihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium" ahead of hosting its firstever international match.

  • The India-West Indies T20 that will be hosted at the venue will be the first game the stadium will host under the new name as well as overall.

  • It was renamed as a token of acknowledgement towards the late Vajpayee, who represented Lucknow in the parliament.

  • The laws passed by the Western Pacific Nation will go into Effect in 2020.

  • According to the law, retailers will be fined $1,000 for Selling Sunscreens that contain 10 Chemicals deemed harmed for Coral and Marine life.

  • Other than Palau, Hawaii also passed a Reef-harming sunscreen ban which will come into Effect in 2021.

North East’s first ‘water handloom hut’ inaugurated in Manipur

  • It is part of the 5 water handloom huts built on phumdis (floating biomass) at Loktak Lake in Bishnupur district.

  • The water handloom huts were built at the cost of Rs 75,000 each by the state department of textiles, commerce and industries.

  • The huts will improve the socio-economic conditions of the weavers residing in the Phumdis at Laktak Lake and build tourism.

UP Cabinet Approves Renaming Of Faizabad As Ayodhya, Allahabad As Prayagraj

  • The Uttar Pradesh Government has approved renaming of Faizabad and Allahabad divisions as Ayodhya and Prayagraj respectively.

  • The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

  • Earlier, the government renamed the Mughalsarai Railway station, another historic spot, as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya junction.

Sri Ramayana Express was flagged off from Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi.

  • It is the 800-seat special tourist train that would run on the Ramayana circuit to cover major spots related to the Hindu epic.

  • The pilgrimage circuit it will travel on, named- Sri Ramayana Yatra-Sri Lanka, consists of two travel components –one each in India and Sri Lanka.

  • The train aims to complete its journey till Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, in 16 days.

  • The railways have decided the fare for 16-day trip at Rs. 15,120 per person.

Environment ministry approved to induce artificial rain via cloud seeding to clear smog in Delhi
  • The Environment Ministry approved a project led by scientists at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to induce artificial rain via cloud seeding in Delhi.

  • The objective is to clear smog in Delhi.

  • The success of the project depends on the presence of a minimum quantity of rainbearing clouds over Delhi.

  • In the project, an aircraft has been planned to fly into the clouds and inject silver iodide, which will lead to the formation of ice crystals that will make the clouds denser, cause them to condense into rain and settle atmospheric dust enough to clear the sky.

80-feet Buddha statue planned in Gujarat 

  • 80-feet Buddha statue planned in Gujarat After the 182-meter tall `Statue of Unity' of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Gujarat may get a gigantic Buddha statue.

  • Sanghakaya Foundation, a non-profit buddhist organization, that it has demanded land from the government for installing an 80-feet high statue of Lord Buddha in Gandhinagar district.

  • It has roped in Ram Sutar, the sculptor behind the Statue of Unity, for the project.

Carpet city Bhadohi gets ‘export excellence’ tag to benefit artisans, boost shipments

  • Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh, which is known for its hand-woven carpets around the world, was granted the export ‘excellence tag’ for the product category ‘Carpets and other floor Coverings’ by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the commerce ministry.

  • Bhadohi, which is near the river Ganges, will be the 37th town in the country to get this status.

  • Currently, the share of India’s hand-woven carpets in the world is 30% and the target is to increase the share to 50% by 2022.

Uttarakhand cabinet approved renaming of Dehradun’s Jolly Grant airport after former PM Vajpayee

  • The Uttarakhand government chaired by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat approved a total of 27 proposals including renaming the Dehradun airport after former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

  • As per the approved proposal, the Jolly Grant airport in Uttarakhand will be renamed after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled the finalized details for the construction of a 221-metre long statue of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.

  • Height of the Ram statue would be 151 meters its overhead umbrella would be 20 meters while the pedestal would be 50 meters.

  • The combined height of the structure would thus be 221 meters, making it the world’s tallest statue.

  • The statue will be made of bronze and will house a ‘modern museum’ which will have history of Ayodhya and the entire ‘Ikshvaku Vansh’ right from King Manu to the present status of ‘Ram Janmabhoomi’.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a 70-feet tall statue of Lord Buddha at Rajgir in Nalanda district, Bihar.

  • He also inaugurated a three-day Rajgir Mahotsava.

  • This is the second tallest statue of Buddha in the country.

  • The statue is made of 45,000 cubic foot pink sandstone and has been installed above a 16-metre radius pedestal in the middle of Lake Ghora Katora.

CSIR to Established a High-End Skill Development Centre In Chandigarh

  • India’s premier National Research Laboratory CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH) announced a new partnership with Merck, a leading German science and Technology Company, to establish a ‘High End Skill Development Centre’ in CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh.

  • This ‘High End Skill Development Centre’ will enrich skills by conducting workshops, trainings and seminar series on cutting edges life science processes, tools and techniques.

West Bengal Green varsity to be renamed as Rani Rashmoni Green University

  • State assembly of West Bengal passed ‘West Bengal Green University (Amendment) Bill 2018’ to rename the West Bengal Green University as Rani Rashmoni Green University in the commemoration of Rani Rashmoni’s 225th Birth anniversary.

  • West Bengal Green University Act was passed in year 2017 for setup of University in Hooghly.

  • Rani Rashmoni had played a very important role in the field of education in West Bengal.

  • Uttarakhand is adjudged as Best State and Himachal Pradesh is awarded with Second Position and holds the Silver Medal.
